Patriots’ defense gets good news prior to Week 4 matchup vs. 49ers

Patriots offensive tackle Vederian Lowe (knee), left guard Michael Jordan (ankle) and cornerback Alex Austin (ankle) remained non-participants in Thursday’s practice.

Outside linebacker Anfernee Jennings (shoulder) was upgraded from a non-participant to limited. Getting Jennings back on early downs against the 49ers’ stout rushing attack would be big for the Patriots’ defense.

Elsewhere, the Patriots listed C David Andrews (not injury related – resting player), CB Christian Gonzalez (shoulder), TE Hunter Henry (ankle), CB Jonathan Jones (shoulder), G Sidy Sow (ankle) and T Caedan Wallace (knee) as limited and G Michael Onwenu (wrist) and S Jabrill Peppers (ankle) as full participants.

If Lowe and Wallace can’t start in Sunday’s game against the 49ers, then Demontrey Jacobs, who joined the team in late August as a waiver claim from the Broncos, would be the team’s left tackle.
