Patriots make change to cornerback depth chart ahead of Week 3 Jets matchup
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. — The Patriots have adjusted their cornerback depth ahead of their Thursday night matchup against the Jets.
Cornerback Marco Wilson is inactive, meaning Alex Austin and Marcellas Dial will be the top backups behind starters Christian Gonzalez, Jonathan Jones and Marcus Jones. Wilson has been used as the Patriots’ fourth cornerback, rotating with Jonathan Jones to give the veteran rest. Now that role will likely be passed to Austin.
Wilson had been flagged for pass interference in each of the Patriots’ first two games.
Here’s the Patriots full list of inactives:
LB Ja’Whaun Bentley
DE Jamree Kromah
T Vederian Lowe
QB Joe Milton (3rd QB)
G Sidy Sow
CB Marco Wilson

Bentley, Lowe and Sow had been ruled out Wednesday. Kromah was just signed off the Bears’ practice squad Wednesday when the Patriots placed outside linebacker Oshane Ximines on injured reserve. Milton can only enter the game if starter Jacoby Brissett and backup Drake Maye both get injured.
All six Patriots wide receivers are active, as are right tackle Mike Onwenu, center David Andrews, defensive end Deatrich Wise and safety Jabrill Peppers, all four of whom were questionable entering Thursday’s game.
Here are the Jets’ inactives:
RB Israel Abanikanda
CB Jarrick Bernard-Converse
T Max Mitchell
ILB C.J. Mosley
T Carter Warren
DE Eric Watts
Mosley, a starting linebacker, is a major loss for the Jets. Starting outside linebacker Jermaine Johnson also was placed on IR this week with a torn Achilles.
