Thursday Pickorama

Sometimes, it is better to employ the KISS strategy: keep it simple stupid.

On one hand, we shouldn’t quarrel too much as we turned in our best performance of the season with eight wins. Yet, the two losses and the words we used to describe the losing picks will stick in our craw.

Let’s start in Needham where we picked Methuen to defeat Needham. The comment behind that pick started with the magical five words – hate going against the Rockets. If that was the case, then why pick against them in the first place?

The Pickorama sauntered into ISL waters on Saturday and felt Lawrence Academy was primed for a bounce back effort against BB&N. That never happened as BB&N showed up with its point-a-minute offense and proceeded to hang 52 points on the host Spartans.

No sense dwelling any further.

King Philip vs. Barnstable: Warriors head to Gillette once again.

St. John’s Prep over Andover: Eagles are better in too many positions.

Xaverian over Needham: Hawks get the call over a tough Rockets’ squad.

Walpole over Milford: Something about this Timberwolves’ team has me intrigued.

Foxboro over Shawsheen: Warriors finally get over the semifinal hump.

Catholic Memorial over Marshfield: Too many weapons on both sides of the ball for the Knights.

Duxbury over Tewksbury: Dragons inch one step closer to a possible repeat.

Hanover over Danvers: Falcons are peaking at the right time but this is a major ask to slow down the undefeated Hawks.

Tabor over BB&N: Two teams who contributed many losses to the Pickorama total. I’ll pick the Seawolves and hope for the best.

Rivers over Pingree: Red Wings pick up their second straight NEPSAC Bowl victory.

LAST WEEK: 8-2 (.800)

SEASON TO DATE: 66-34 (.660)
