Plot 

The series Haunted Hotel follows the life of Katherine Freeling, a divorced single mother, who moves in with her children, including her son Ben and daughter Esther. The hotel was a gift from her brother Nathan. Katherine quickly understands that the hotel is not ordinary and is filled with several restless spirits, including that of Nathan. He is a helpful ghost who wants to help her sister turn the struggling hotel into a viable business. However, other ghosts were not friendly at all. 

Season 2 expands the world further. New employees arrive along with additional ghosts and supernatural entities. The emotional roller coaster rises. The season explores themes of home, belonging, and family trauma. 

Release Dates and Trailer Updates

As of mid-October 2026, Netflix has not officially renewed the third season of Haunted Hotel. In an interview with Sonny Brunch, Matt Roller has confirmed that the writers’ room has already completed the script for the third season. 

He said, “Yeah, we have it all. And I’m very excited about it. I would love to make it because it is very strong and will be built based on season two, in a way, just like season two is dependent on season one.”

He also mentioned that if the season got a renewal, he is aiming for the release before Halloween 2027 to maintain the cycle of the series. Roller said Netflix takes time to analyze the critics and viewership before renewing for a new season. Season 1 was renewed a week after its release in September 2025.

The second season was released on October 9, 2026. It’s been a week, but the renewal is still pending. The main reason behind the delay is the low number of viewers. Season 1 has 1.8 million views in just a week of its release, while Season 2 has still not crossed this number. Let’s see what response it gets by the second week.
