The GAC Aion V is the best-selling SUV in Uruguay in September.

The Uruguayan new light vehicle market is down -5.1% year-on-year in September to 6,447 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 14.9% to 56,504 which is believed to be a new record at this stage of the year. BYD (-42.1%) comfortably holds onto the brands top spot with 11.4% share but is hindered by a record year-ago performance when it held 18.7% of the market.

Fiat (-34.6%) and Chevrolet (-22.7%) return to the podium but both sink. In contrast Geely (+256.1%), GAC (+1700%) and Dongfeng (+282.9%) all post surreal gains below, as do Jetour (+261.1%), Omoda (+223.1%) and GWM (+375.6%) in the remainder of the Top 10. Further down, Geely Riddara (+3066.7%), MG (+1242.9%) and to a lesser extent Changan (+135.5%) also deliver extraordinary lifts. All in all, Chinese manufacturers see their sales jump +55.1% year-on-year to 57.6% share vs. 35.2% in September 2025  16.7% on September 2024.

Today we can share with you an exclusive All models ranking for Uruguay. And there are a lot of surprises. Below the Fiat Strada at 7.1% share, the next seven models are Chinese. The Geely EX2 brilliantly takes the second spot ahead of the BYD Yuan Pro, Dongfeng Nammi (#1 in July), GAC Aion V, Omoda E5, BYD Seagull and GWM Ora 5. The GAC Aion UT also makes it into the Top 10, with the Renault Oroch at #11 and the Chevrolet Spark EUV at #12. Notice also the Jetour X50 at #13, the Geely EX5 at #19 and the Riddara RD6 at #21.
