The BYD Seal U ranks #8 in Romania in September.

Paltry result once again for Romanian new car sales in September at -11.2% year-on-year to 11,068. The year-to-date volume is now off -10.6% to 97,213. Local behemoth Dacia (-34.4%) is in freefall once again to 24.4% share vs. 33.1% a year ago in September 2025. It is however markedly better than the 20.4% it holds year-to-date. Toyota (+37.1%) is in stunning shape at 13.1% of the market vs. 10.3% so far this year, followed by Skoda (-11.3%) at 7.2%. BYD (+532.1%) climbs to a record 4th place overall with 6.4% share, also reaching an all time high monthly volume at 708. MG (+65.7%) is up to #7, with Mercedes (+22.5%) and BMW (+4.6%) also defying the negative market in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, Omoda (+20200%), Chery (+768%), Geely (+180.3%) and Suzuki (+108.4%) all stun.

Over in the models charts, the Dacia Logan (-34.1%) is on top for the 4th straight month at 10.4% share, but this is not enough to topple the Dacia Duster (-34.6%) from the YTD pole position. The latter still has a 461-unit advantage over the Logan so far this year, and at this rate the Logan will be #1 YTD next month. The Toyota Corolla (+67.9%) manages to remain in third place above the Dacia Sandero (-30.7%) with the Toyota Yaris Cross (+54.5%) rounding out the Top 5. Outstanding performance also by the BYD Seal U (+317.7%) at #8 and 2.3% share vs. #13 and 1.3% year-to-date. The Dacia Bigster (-39.7%) freefalls to #9.
