Singapore August 2026: GAC at all-time high, Chinese at 51.7% share
GAC sales are up 145.1% year-on-year in August.
4,549 new cars hit Singaporean roads in August, a -2.2% year-on-year contraction. The year-to-date tally remains in frank negative however at +10.3% to 36,646. BYD (+19.6%) ignores the negative market to reach a whopping 24.2% share, its best since last May. Tesla (+1.1%) advances one spot on July to #3, passing a struggling Toyota (-27%). Mercedes (-42.2%) performs even worse but manages to stay in 4th place. GAC (+145.1%) equals its ranking record at #5 and reaches all-time high volumes (250) and share (5.5%). Chery (+258.8%), Xpeng (+126.5%) and MG (+82%) stand out with stellar YoY gains in the remainder of the Top 10. Below, AvatR (+361.5%), Deepal (+207.1%) and Maxus (+190.5%) make themselves noticed while newcomer Leapmotor is up to #22. All in all, Chinese manufacturers reach 51.7% share vs. 30.3% a year ago in August 2025 thanks to sales up 66.9% to 2,352.
