GAC sales are up 5033.3% year-on-year in Uruguay.

6,569 new cars hit Uruguayan roads in August, up 15.5% year-on-year and believed to be the highest ever August volume. The year-to-date tally is up 17.9% to 50,057. BYD (+12.9%) remains the most popular carmaker in the country with 12.8% share vs. 12% year-to-date. The surprises come below: Geely surges 645.2% YoY and seven spots on July to land at a record 2nd place with 10.5% share and GAC skyrockets 5033.3% to #3 and 9.4% share. #3 last month, Dongfeng (+197.3%) falls to #5 but still triples its year-ago volume. In contrast Chevrolet (-44.2%), Fiat (-25.2%) and Renault (-18.2%) all crater. Omoda (+320.8%), Jetour (+95.9%) and Toyota (+96.2%) shine below. All in all, the 38 Chinese brands selling at least one unit in August see their sales surge 137.1% year-on-year to 4,120 units, accounting for 62.7% of the market vs. 30.6% a year ago in August 2025.
