Over half of Opel Frontera sales are from its BEV variant.

New car sales in Austria edge up 1.6% year-on-year in August to 21,788 units, leading to a year-to-date tally up 12% to 212,140. Volkswagen (+8.6%) reclaims the brands top spot off Skoda (-7%) and cements its YTD leadership at 14.1% share for the month. BMW (+18.5%) stays in third place, distancing Audi (-6.7%) and Mercedes (-13%) both struggling. BYD (+20.3%) is up two spots on July to a record 6th place, displacing Toyota (+0.2%) and Seat (-24.7%). Peugeot (+31.3%) lodges the biggest YoY gain in the Top 10 whereas Dacia (-30.4%) is in deep trouble. Below, notice Opel (+58%), Citroen (+55.8%), Kia (+43.3%) and MG (+39.4%) while outside the Top 20 Leapmotor (+186.4%), Omoda (#24), Chery (#25) and Xpeng (+14500%) stand out. Tesla is down -64.8% to #31.

Model-wise, the VW Golf (+16.8%) is up 7 ranks on July to brilliantly return into pole position. The BMW X1 (+49.3%) is up three spots on last month to #2, its best ranking since topping the charts outright in July 2025. 54% of its August volume comes from the iX1 which is the #1 BEV in the country this month. The Skoda Octavia (+5.5%) falls to #3 and the Skoda Fabia (+42.3%) is up seven spots to #4. The BMW X3 (+95.9%) almost doubles its sales YoY to #5 with 67% of its sales coming from the iX3. The Opel Frontera (+169.7%) shoots up 13 ranks on last month to reach a record 6th place, with 51% coming from the BEV variant.
