Stellantis is recalling just over 1.5 million Ram 1500 pickups worldwide because of a seat belt anchor issue that could affect rear-seat occupant protection in a crash. The recall covers certain 2019-2026 Ram 1500 trucks that may have been built with a second-row center or second-row driver-side seat belt buckle anchor that was not properly attached to the vehicle’s body structure. According to Reuters, Stellantis is aware of one potentially related injury, but no fatalities have been reported.

The bulk of the recall is in North America, with about 1.27 million vehicles affected in the United States, 156,000 in Canada, 15,000 in Mexico, and roughly 75,000 in other markets outside North America. The issue is important because a seat belt anchor that is not properly secured may reduce the effectiveness of the restraint system during a collision. For a truck as widely sold as the Ram 1500, even a specific rear-seat hardware concern can quickly turn into a very large recall.

Owners of affected trucks will be notified and instructed to contact a dealer for an inspection. Dealers will check the second-row center and second-row driver-side seat belt buckle anchors and, if necessary, properly attach them to the vehicle body. The repair should be handled through Ram dealers, and owners who want to check sooner can look up their VIN through the NHTSA recall database or contact their local dealer directly.
