Revealed as Mercedes introduced its first U.S. MANUFAKTUR hub in Beverly Hills, the new GLS680 gives the brand’s ultra-luxury SUV more power, more personalization, and more of the theatrical detail that Maybach buyers expect. It is still based on the GLS, but almost everything about it is tuned to feel richer, quieter, smoother, and far more exclusive.

The exterior leans heavily into Maybach identity with a new Maybach-specific grille, distinctive lighting, and a light-up grille surround that makes the front end impossible to miss at night. The Maybach name is illuminated within the grille, rose gold accents appear in the lighting elements, and chrome detailing spreads across the redesigned front fascia. Around back, the tailgate gets a refreshed look with chrome-star inspired taillight detailing, adding another visual cue that this is not a regular Mercedes-Benz SUV.

Mercedes also gives the 2027 Maybach GLS680 a deeper personalization catalog. New wheel options include a standard 22-inch 20-hole design and available 23-inch wheels with a gyroscopic Mercedes star center cap that stays upright while the wheel is moving. New exterior colors include Dark Petrol, MANUFAKTUR Patagonia Red Metallic, and a Maybach-exclusive Dark Petrol and Verde Silver Metallic two-tone finish. Buyers can also dig into MANUFAKTUR extras such as a 20-piece hand-stitched leather headliner, which fits the Maybach mission perfectly.

Inside, the GLS680 is designed more like a private lounge than a family SUV. The cabin features rich leather, a 12.3-inch display layout, rose gold display accents, and new massage functionality for the front seats. Rear passengers get an upgraded extended massage function that now includes the reclining calf rests, which is exactly the sort of excess people expect from a Maybach. An available refrigerator compartment and optional rear entertainment displays help push the GLS680 further into chauffeured luxury territory.

Mercedes also focused on quietness and air quality, two things that matter greatly in this segment. Additional engine and underbody insulation help keep unwanted noise out of the cabin, while a standard multi-stage air filtration system with an ionizer helps clean the air inside. The standard Burmester sound system with Dolby Atmos also gets support from two additional speakers and a 710-watt amplifier, giving passengers a richer listening experience whether they are relaxing, working, or being driven across town.

Under the hood, the 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS680 gets a twin-turbocharged V8 paired with a 48-volt mild hybrid system and a nine-speed automatic transmission. Output rises to 603 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque, sent to all four wheels. Mercedes says the updated engine is smoother as well, thanks in part to balance shafts that help reduce vibration. A revised steering ratio is intended to make the big SUV feel more responsive, while predictive damper control reads the road ahead and adjusts the suspension before bumps disturb the cabin.

The 2027 Mercedes-Maybach GLS680 will be built in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, with arrivals expected before the end of 2026. Mercedes has not announced pricing yet, but it is expected to start above $200,000 once destination and options enter the picture. That sounds steep until you remember what Maybach is selling here: power, silence, status, comfort, and enough visual drama to turn every arrival into an event.
