Dodge appears ready to give muscle car fans something new to talk about, even if it is not the long-rumored HEMI comeback many still want. A more powerful gas-powered Dodge Charger is reportedly set to debut at MotorTrend RoadKill Nights in Pontiac, Michigan, with Dodge teasing it as the most powerful Sixpack-powered Charger yet. That points directly to a hotter version of the twin-turbocharged Hurricane inline-six rather than a V8 revival.

The current gas Charger lineup is already built around the 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six, which Dodge brands as Sixpack for this application. In High Output form, the Charger Scat Pack makes 550 horsepower and 521 pound-feet of torque, giving the new-generation Charger serious performance even without eight cylinders under the hood. The next version is expected to push beyond that number, with some speculation pointing toward 600 horsepower or more.

That would give Dodge a much-needed halo model for the gasoline side of the Charger family. Sales momentum has shown that buyers are still deeply interested in the internal-combustion Charger, while the all-electric Charger Daytona has had a more difficult time winning over traditional muscle fans. A stronger Sixpack model would let Dodge respond quickly without waiting on a full V8 business case or major powertrain overhaul.

Still, the wording matters. Dodge is reportedly calling this the most powerful Sixpack-powered Charger, which suggests it will remain below the 670-horsepower Charger Daytona Scat Pack EV in the broader lineup. In other words, expect more boost, sharper calibration, and a higher-output Hurricane package, not a surprise Hellcat replacement or HEMI-powered bombshell. For fans still hoping to hear a V8 roar from the new Charger’s engine bay, patience may still be required.
