Knaus Nordwind Debuts as a New Premium Caravan Range for Year-Round Adventures

Knaus Tabbert is preparing a fresh caravan lineup for the 2027 model year, and the company is positioning the new Nordwind family at the upper end of its portfolio. Designed as a premium touring caravan, the range arrives with three layouts and a focus on comfort, daily usability, and all-season travel.

The manufacturer describes the series as “a new era of travel” built around “new standards for your comfort on the road – whatever the season, and tailored precisely to your high expectations.”

Nordwind will sit above the current Sudwind range and use a widebody platform. While overall lengths have not yet been disclosed, every version measures 2.5 meters, or 8.2 feet, in width. Maximum permissible weight stands at 2,500 kg, equal to 5,511 lbs. The teaser material released by Knaus shows a tandem-axle trailer, and given the dimensions involved, all three layouts appear likely to use a double-axle configuration.

Three floorplans will form the initial lineup. The 600 UE places twin beds at the rear. Buyers seeking a larger washroom will find one in the 600 PXB, which combines a full-width rear bathroom, a pass-through bedroom, and a generous central lounge. The third option, called 660 UDF, pairs a corner rear bathroom with a French bed arrangement.

Across the range, Knaus includes equipment intended for year-round use. Alde liquid heating and underfloor heating come standard. A fixed 40-liter, or 10.5-gallon, wastewater tank sits inside the insulated body structure, while the plumbing also receives insulation. Those details point toward use in colder conditions rather than only summer travel.

The interior follows a different direction as well. Larger refrigerators appear in the kitchen area, and buyers receive hybrid “gas-on-glass” cooktops. These units combine two gas burners with one induction burner in a flush-mounted layout. Knaus also references rounded furniture shapes, minimalist styling, textile wall coverings aimed at improving thermal and acoustic performance, and frameless tinted windows.

Exterior styling moves away from traditional caravan design cues. The body uses smooth silver sheet metal and incorporates automotive-inspired elements. Cateye LED headlights appear at the front, while the FoldXpand rear section increases interior volume without extending overall length. LED light piping and illuminated rear handles complete the look.

Knaus describes the living space as “open, bright, and inviting,” and the teaser footage supports that message. The company has not announced pricing or delivery schedules. Production examples of the new Nordwind series are scheduled to make their public debut at the 2026 Dusseldorf Caravan Show, which opens on August 28. More detailed specifications for all three floorplans are expected to emerge around that event.
