Austria June 2026: Hyundai up to #2, MG breaks records, sales up 22.9%
The MG HS is up to a record 4th place in Austria in June.
34,256 new cars hit Austrian roads in June, a splendid 22.9% year-on-year improvement. The YTD total is now up 15% to 164,529. Volkswagen (+5.2%) and Skoda (+15.8%) remain atop the brands charts but both trail the market. BMW (+27.8%) outpaces it slightly but it’s Hyundai (+119.4%) that delivers the biggest gain in the Top 20, up 13 spots on May to #4 with 5.9% share. MG (+79.2%) is up 11 ranks to #9 with 1,301 sales and 3.8% share. This is the first time MG crosses the 1,000 monthly sales mark (previous best 726 in June 2025), and also a record ranking (previous best #14 in December 2024) and share (previous best 2.7% in March 2025). Leapmotor (+756.8%), BYD (+105.9%), Fiat (+94.8%) and Mazda (+60.4%) also impress below.
Over in the models charts, the Skoda Octavia (+16.3%) signs a second win in the past three months but remains at #2 year-to-date below the VW Golf (stable), itself down to #6 for the month. The Hyundai Tucson (+144.5%) justifies the brand’s performance and leaps from outside the May Top 20 directly into 2nd place. It earns a YTD Top 20 ranking as a result at #15. The Tesla Model Y (-21.6%) ranks #3 but freefalls year-on-year. Record performance by the MG HS (+510.1%) scoring its first ever Top 20 finish, directly at #4. The BMW X3 (+269%) is pushed up to #5 by its new iX3 BEV variant (65% of its June volume). Outstanding performances also by the Cupra Born (+312.7%), Opel Frontera (+239.3%) and BYD Seal (+131.1%).
