Red Sox lineup: Masataka Yoshida to play 5 innings vs. Northeastern
FORT MYERS, Fla. – The Red Sox play their first baseball of 2026 Friday at JetBlue Park, also known as Fenway South.
The Northeastern Huskies are in town for the annual exhibition game, but will face more major leaguers than usual due to the upcoming World Baseball Classic. Nate Eaton and Masataka Yoshida are batting in the top spots in the lineup before they report to Team Britain and Team Japan, respectively. Yoshida will play five innings Friday and Saturday before he leaves to report for the WBC, manager Alex Cora said pregame.
Pitching prospect Tyler Uberstine will start for the Red Sox.
