Guthrie Family Says It Received a Message and ‘We Will Pay’ for Mother’s Return
By Jacki Thrapp
The family of Nancy Guthrie has offered to pay the alleged kidnapper(s) to return their 84-year-old mother who vanished nearly one week ago.
“We received your message and we understand,” long-time “Today” show co-host Savannah Guthrie, the daughter of Nancy, announced in an Instagram video on Feb. 7.
“We beg you now to return our mother to us so that we can celebrate with her. This is the only way we will have peace. This is very valuable to us and we will pay.”
Saturday’s statement from the family came after the FBI announced it was examining two ransom notes that could be tied to Guthrie.
The first note, sent to a small number of media outlets, allegedly asked for cryptocurrency in exchange for Guthrie to be returned home.
Guthre was last seen the evening of Jan. 31 after she had dinner with her family.
Authorities believe she was removed against her will after DNA tests came back as a match to her from blood found on her front porch.
