Trump administration pauses green card program that Brown U, MIT prof shooter used

The Trump administration is pausing a green card program that admitted the now-dead suspect in the Brown University mass shooting and MIT professor assassination.

Claudio Neves-Valente, 48, was a Portuguese national who studied at Brown University on an F-1 student visa between August 2000 and May 2001.

Then he became a lawful permanent resident of the U.S. in 2017 — when he was issued a diversity immigrant visa.

The Trump admin is now halting this visa program in the wake of the Brown University mass shooting and MIT professor slaying.

“This heinous individual should never have been allowed in our country,” DHS Secretary Kristi Noem posted. “In 2017, President Trump fought to end this program, following the devastating NYC truck ramming by an ISIS terrorist, who entered under the DV1 program, and murdered eight people.

“At President Trump’s direction, I am immediately directing USCIS to pause the DV1 program to ensure no more Americans are harmed by this disastrous program,” Noem added.

Fundraiser for MIT professor’s family

A GoFundMe page has already raised more than $100,000 for the family of the slain MIT professor, Nuno Loureiro.

Neves-Valente shot Loureiro at his Brookline residence Monday night, two days after he committed the mass shooting at Brown University.

The GoFundMe page is titled “In Loving Memory of Nuno Loureiro, Supporting His Family.”

“With heavy hearts, we share this page on behalf of the Loureiro family—most especially for Nuno’s three daughters, whose lives were forever changed by this sudden and devastating tragedy,” the page reads. “Nuno Loureiro was not only a brilliant scientist and a dear friend, but also a deeply devoted husband and father who cared profoundly about his daughters’ futures, their education, and the opportunities he worked tirelessly to provide for them.

“Nuno and his wife built a family life rooted in love and stability, one filled with laughter and joy, learning and growth,” the page continues. “But it was tragically cut short by a senseless act of violence that has robbed his family of the precious time and resources needed to continue guiding, supporting, and providing for their daughters.”
