Pedestrian dies a week after driver strikes her in St. Paul crosswalk
A pedestrian has died after a driver struck her as she crossed St. Paul’s Summit Avenue, police said Monday.
Janet Mary Stevens, 75, of St. Paul, was hospitalized since the collision and passed away Saturday, according to Alyssa Arcand, a St. Paul police spokeswoman.
A 22-year-old driver was heading south on Dale Street and turned left onto Summit Avenue when he hit Stevens and her 74-year-old husband, who suffered minor injuries, about 10:55 a.m. Nov. 23.
The couple was in the crosswalk and had the right of way when crossing Summit Avenue, based on preliminary information, Arcand said.
Police continue to investigate.
