HONG KONG (AP) — La malla protectora que cubría los andamios alrededor de los edificios incendiados la semana pasada en Hong Kong no cumplía con las normas de resistencia al fuego, según indicaron el lunes autoridades hongkonesas.
Chris Tang, Secretario de Seguridad de Hong Kong, dijo que se tomaron muestras de la malla de múltiples ubicaciones de los siete edificios que se incendiaron. Se encontró que siete muestras no cumplían con los estándares.
Las pruebas iniciales habían sugerido que la malla cumplía con los estándares, pero los investigadores no habían podido verificarla completamente debido al incendio.
“Debido a que el incendio ya está apagado, hemos podido acceder a lugares que antes no eran fácilmente accesibles para tomar muestras”, dijo Tang a los periodistas.
El incendio comenzó el miércoles por la tarde y no se extinguió por completo hasta el viernes por la mañana. Al menos 146 personas murieron.
