Women’s basketball: Gophers cruise against Manhattan
The Minnesota women’s basketball team had its second straight blowout to open the season, beating Manhattan 99-36 on Friday at Williams Arena.
The Gophers struggled early, shooting just 29.4% from the field in the first quarter and led 17-10. But they finished the game shooting 51.6% and were 11 of 21 from 3-point territory.
Mara Braun led the way with 17 points, while Tori McKinney had 16. Grace Grocholski had 12 points and team-highs of eight rebounds and seven assists.
Five players scored in double figures for Minnesota, which beat North Dakota 91-47 in Tuesday’s opener. The Gophers host Marquette on Nov. 11.
