Celtics rule out big man for NBA Cup game vs. Magic for personal reasons
Celtics big man Xavier Tillman will not be available Friday night in Orlando.
Boston ruled Tillman out for its NBA Cup matchup with the Magic at the Kia Center for personal reasons.
The 26-year-old Tillman has seen action in seven of the Celtics’ nine games this season, averaging 8.9 minutes, 2.9 points and 2.4 rebounds per appearance. He was a healthy DNP in Wednesday night’s 136-107 win over the Wizards at TD Garden as head coach Joe Mazzulla tightened his frontcourt rotation.
The Celtics’ victory over Washington snapped a two-game losing streak. They’ll look to improve to 5-5 on the season and 2-0 in NBA Cup group play when they visit the Magic in a rematch of last season’s first-round playoff series.
Boston also will play at Orlando on Sunday night. It was not clear as of Thursday afternoon whether the team expects Tillman back for that game.
Jayson Tatum (out, Achilles) was the only other player listed on the Celtics’ latest injury report.
