Patriots add running back, speedy cornerback to active roster

The Patriots elevated running back Terrell Jennings and cornerback Miles Battle from the practice squad to the active roster Saturday.

Jennings, who was also elevated last week, will serve as depth behind running backs Rhamondre Stevenson and TreVeyon Henderson with Antonio Gibson out for the season. Jennings was relegated to special teams duties in his season debut last week.

Battle serves as additional cornerback depth with Charles Woods questionable with a knee injury after missing practice Thursday and Friday. Battle gets the call-up over fellow practice-squad cornerback Kobee Minor. He appeared in one game last season and made two tackles. At 6-foot-3, 197 pounds, he ran a blazing 4.37-second 40-yard dash at his pro day last offseason, coming out of Utah. He converted from wide receiver to cornerback during his time at Ole Miss before transferring to Utah.

The Patriots also have Christian Gonzalez, Carlton Davis III, Marcus Jones and Alex Austin at cornerback.

Woods, wide receiver Stefon Diggs, safety Jaylinn Hawkins and outside linebacker Harold Landry III were all listed as questionable Friday but weren’t ruled out when the team traveled to Nashville on Saturday.
