The Chery Tiggo Cross is up to #13 in September.

The Indonesian new vehicle market continues on its downward spiral in September with wholesales off -14.6% to 62,071 and retail sales down -11.9% to 63,723. Year-to-date wholesales are down -11.3% to 561,819 and retail sales drop -10.8% to 585,917. Toyota (-18.5%) and Daihatsu (-16.3%) top the wholesales brands charts but lose market share year-on-year to 33.4% and 17.1% respectively. Mitsubishi (+4.2%) edges up to 9.8% share vs. 8.7% so far this year, Suzuki (-0.6%) is stable and Honda (-45.3%) implodes. Chery (+212.8%) is the best performer in the Top 10, up 5 spots on August to #7 overall. Isuzu (+22.9%) also impresses at #8. Notice BYD (-47.6%) poor at #12 vs. #6 year-to-date. Retail-wise, Chery (+246.9%), BYD (+13.9%), Suzuki (+7%) and Isuzu (+3.1%) shine in the Top 10.

Model-wise, the Toyota Kijang Innova (+1.9%) is head and shoulders above the competition at 9.9% share, its highest since December 2023. It holds 8.1% of the market year-to-date. The Daihatsu Gran Max Pikap (-6%) repeats at #2 with 6.3% share vs. 4.8% so far this year, distancing a freefalling Toyota Avanza (-41%) and a surging Suzuki Carry Pikap (+25.7%). The Daihatsu Gran Max Minibus (+422.6%), Honda HR-V (+43%), Toyota Hilux (+32.8%) and Agya (+11.8%) also make themselves noticed below. The Chery Tiggo Cross (#13) tops recent launches above the Suzuki Fronx (#16) and Mitsubishi Destinator (#18).
