Murphy: Observations on politics and culture

If the Epstein victims really want to release the names of the men who abused them, they should release the names. Holding a press conference to announce that you’re thinking about releasing the names sounds like code for: “send us a big check and we’ll keep your name secret the same way Biden and Trump did.”

As chief of the Civil Rights division at the Attorney General’s Office in 2012, Maura Healey pushed the Legislature to add transgender as a category to the hate crime law, but she opposed adding gender. So women in Massachusetts are only protected if they used to be men.

If a sticker on a supermarket shelf says “LOW PRICE,” and I disagree, can I rip it off?

It should be illegal for any woman to run for political office if she doesn’t talk about establishing women’s equality as her top priority.

People can disagree about what “great” means, but why would anyone not want America to be great?

Why isn’t there more bartering? Someone who needs food could work a few hours at a grocery store and take home groceries instead of a paycheck. Someone whose mother needs nursing home care could work as an aide in exchange for free care for his mother. Make it all tax-free and swarms of people will sign up.

Organic food would be more affordable if poisonous food was illegal.

If a person with male chromosomes commits a crime, it should be listed as a crime committed by a male. If the person also happens to identify as female, it should be listed as a crime committed by a male who identifies as female. This is not complicated. We don’t let criminals dictate to police that they not charge them with premeditated murder because they didn’t feel like they were premeditating.

What if we passed a law that said anyone with more than $500 million must donate a million dollars to a fund that provides free public transportation for everyone.

Domestic violence victims who file police reports and agree to testify should receive free food and housing so they don’t have to choose between justice and homelessness.

I can’t be the only one who just learned that lawnmowers also cut grass when they’re pulled backwards.

Remember when RFK Jr. was cleaning our rivers and all the Democrats said he was a genius because he understood science as well as the best scientists? Remember how they praised him for helping Congress understand how the polluters were paying reputable journals to publish junk science?

Bunnies won’t eat flowers with leaves that have prickly edges.

Utilities are supposed to be highly regulated because making families choose between food and heat is unconscionable. So how come the electric, gas, and oil companies keep raising prices and all we get is a few politicians feigning outrage? What good is outrage if prices are going up anyway?

If your neighbor’s tree drops 50% of its leaves in your yard, can you spend 50% of your time on a Sunday morning using a very loud leaf blower to return them to their rightful owner?

If free speech only applies to Democrats, the Constitution is a tyrant.
