Mike Vrabel provides injury update on Patriots’ key offensive player
Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel provided an update on Antonio Gibson’s status Monday morning after the running back suffered a knee injury in the team’s 23-20 win over the Bills.
“Nothing new to add,” Vrabel said on WEEI’s “The Greg Hill Show.” “He’ll go through some tests this morning, and we’ll have to see what comes from those.”

Gibson suffered the knee injury on a kick return early in the second quarter. Gibson took a hard hit to his legs, but it appeared on replay that he might have hurt his knee before getting tackled. He got to his feet but had to be helped off the field by trainers. He was spotted with a crutch greeting teammates at the locker room after the win.
The veteran running back had seen his usage increase in Sunday night’s win after fellow running back Rhamondre Stevenson fumbled for the third time in five weeks.
If Gibson’s injury keeps him out for a prolonged period, then the Patriots will need to keep relying on Stevenson and rookie TreVeyon Henderson. As a whole, the Patriots struggled to run the ball on Sunday night, but it didn’t matter in the end with them taking an upset win over a divisional rival on the road.
