Connecticut man sets new pumpkin record at Topsfield Fair

The Topsfield Fair crowned a pumpkin grower whose gourd didn’t just best this year’s competitors, but was the heaviest pumpkin the event has seen.

The pumpkin Alex Noel, of Abington, Connecticut, brought to the 41st All New England Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off tipped the scales at 2,507 pounds.

“This is a Topsfield Fair record!!!” event organizers confirmed on the fair’s official Facebook page.

Noel is no stranger to growing pumpkins that weigh more than a ton, nor to winning the contest in Topsfield. He has held the Connecticut State Record for heaviest pumpkin since he won the Topsfield Fair in 2019 with a 2,294.5-pounder, according to CT Insider.

At last year’s event Noel placed second, with a pumpkin weighing 1,921 pounds, bested by a pumpkin grown by four-time winner Steve Connolly, of Sharon, who grew a 2,211 pound pumpkin.
