Mayor Michelle Wu

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu put on a show last Tuesday, defending Boston’s sanctuary policies protecting illegal aliens. During this performance Wu compared her defense of illegal aliens to the patriots of 1776. Comparing herself to the Founders is not only absurd, but also incredibly disrespectful to the brave and principled people who founded our republic.

While the city is running a deficit, Wu demonstrates that coddling criminals takes priority over creating a livable city with good private sector job opportunities.

Thanks to the policies of Mayor Wu and Gov. Maura Healey, Massachusetts lost about 17,000 jobs this past year. Considering that Massachusetts ranks #5 in Education among all 50 states in the U.S., why are we not a top job-creating state? Could it be the excessively high taxes that drive newly minted college graduates out of the Bay State, and would-be entrepreneurs across state lines?

Job growth in Massachusetts pales in comparison to the rest of the nation, and the 2025 US News rankings of states ranks Massachusetts #41 on Opportunity, and #39 in Infrastructure.

On the other hand, Massachusetts ranks #1 for welfare benefits. Rather than focusing on fostering a culture of entrepreneurship or capitalism, Healey and Wu are intent on fostering a culture of poverty.

Is this what the founding fathers intended when they wrote the Suffolk Resolves?  I think NOT! They wanted opportunity, safety and freedom from tyranny including overzealous taxation.

The Wu and Healey administration’s deliberate choice to ignore the rule of law undermines public safety, threatens our economic stability, and endangers every resident of Massachusetts.

Sustainable energy

Stephen Moore’s argument begins by dismissing sustainable energy as a “fable” He is right. In March 2025, sustainable energy fuels accounted for just more than 50% of electricity generated. That is fabulous! Sustainable energy works. What is wholly fabulous is Moore’s defense of fossil fuels.

Truly astounding was his claim that solar and wind power are “ugly.” Seriously?  What part of slag heaps, tar sands sites, rivers and waterways turned into streams of poison, or communities devastated by wildfires are pleasing to the eye? Moore’s aesthetic complaint would almost be laughable — if not for the heartbreaking health hazards posed by extraction and production of fossil fuels. For example, oil refineries are ugly and harmful eyesores. They are associated with health hazards  like cancer, respiratory illnesses, and cardiovascular disease due to exposure to air pollutants like benzene, particulate matter, and sulfur dioxide

Despite gains by sustainable sources, energy costs for average consumers are rising, in part due to the demands of AI technology. Also rising? The growing likelihood of catastrophic weather events. We the people need to prioritize our health and welfare. We need to rise too.  And demand an end to drilling and strong support of renewable energy.
