India July 2025: Maruti Suzuki DZire (+79.4%) takes the lead

The Maruti Suzuki DZire is the most popular vehicle in India in July.

Wholesales in India edge up 1.1% year-on-year in July to 346,669, the second largest July volume in Indian history below 2023 (351,908). The year-to-date tally remains at record levels, up 1.3% to 2,535,659, beating the previous high reached in 2024 (2,503,601). Maruti Suzuki (+0.2%) is stable in first place with 39.7% share, with Mahindra (+19.8%) again showing tremendous momentum. This is the brand’s 29th straight month of double-digit YoY gains (since March 2023!). Hyundai (-10.3%) and Tata (-11.6%) struggle below while Toyota (-1.3%) limits its fall on a record year-ago volume. Skoda (+164.1%) continues to surge at #8, with Citroen (+47.5%) and MG (+46.1%) also in great shape.

Over in the models charts, the Maruti Suzuki DZire (+79.4%) is propelled #1 by the new generation with just under 21,000 units, for its 2nd win in the past 3 months. This is the nameplate’s highest volume since January 2020 (22,406) and brings it just 462 sales off the YTD pole position. This is also the first time since February (Fronx 21,461) that a model surpasses the 20,000 monthly sales mark. Strong sales of the CNG and taxi versions are helping. #1 last month, the Hyundai Creta (-2.6%) edges down to #2 but snaps the YTD top spot off the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R (-9.1%) down to #4 for the month. The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga (+5.8%) is up one spot on June to #3. Excellent performances also by the Maruti Suzuki Baleno (+34.3%), Fronx (+17.8%) and Mahindra Scorpio (+12.3%). Below, the Mahindra Thar (+124.5%) stays at stratospheric YoY lifts and ranks #13.
