Patriots rookie noticing growing chemistry with Drake Maye

FOXBORO — One of Drake Maye’s best throws of training camp came on Wednesday on a 40-yard deep ball dropped in a bucket to rookie wide receiver Kyle Williams.

The 2025 third-round pick believes that shows a growing trust between him and his quarterback.

“We just had the look that we wanted. I guess Drake trusted me enough to put the ball in the air and for me to make a second shake,” Williams said. “And I feel like that chemistry, that connection, is steadily growing, and it’s getting better. Who knows what it will look like at the end of training camp. So, we’ll just wait and see.”

It would give the Patriots’ offense a major boost if Williams, perhaps the Patriots’ fastest wide receiver, can get out to a hot start this season. The Patriots struggled to get any production out of rookie wide receivers Ja’Lynn Polk and Javon Baker last season.
