Police at ‘active crime scene’ in Everett, shutting down roads
Roadways are being shut down in Everett in the area surrounding the Encore Casino due to “an active crime scene,” authorities say.
The Everett Police Department reported that Lower Broadway “will be temporarily shut down due to an active crime scene involving a stolen vehicle and multiple crashes.” Both EPD and the Massachusetts State Police are on the scene.
Video from the scene shows a Republic Services trash truck crashed into the side of the bridge.
The city further clarified that the shutdown is to Lower Broadway “from the rotary at Sweetser Circle to Sullivan Square. Please use alternate routes.”
Live traffic data fed into Google Maps shows dark red zones and crashes throughout the area, including over the Alford Street Bridge.
The Herald has reached out to the Massachusetts State Police, the Encore Casino and the Everett PD for additional information.
This is a developing story.
