Morgan Moses had advice for Will Campbell after Patriots rookie’s struggles

FOXBORO — Patriots starting left tackle and fourth overall pick Will Campbell struggled during Wednesday’s practice, allowing two sacks and a pressure during 11-on-11 work also suffering a tough loss in 1-on-1s.

But starting right tackle Morgan Moses still felt positive about Campbell after he passed along some advice to the rookie.

“I mean, it’s the evolution of football, man. So, he’s learning how to be a pro, and he’s learning how to not make the same mistakes that he’s made the day before,” Moses said. “Obviously we got a great defensive line across there. So those guys come every day and we go against them every day in 1-on-1s and things like that. They’re doing a great job of pulling him to the side and telling him tendencies that he might have and things and stuff like that. So he’s learning. It’s a part of the process. We’re all learning.

“I told him yesterday, ‘I’d be lying if I told you in 12 years I’ve never had a bad practice.’ But that’s a part of just who Will is, is just eager to learn, eager to get back out there and fix things. And that’s what you want from a younger guy.”

Campbell has been entrenched as the Patriots top left tackle throughout camp. It appears that fellow rookie Jared Wilson, a third-round pick, will be next to him at left guard to start the season with veteran Garrett Bradbury at center, Mike Onwenu at right guard and Moses at left tackle.

Bradbury missed Thursday’s practice with an injury, thrusting Ben Brown into the top role at center. Cole Strange previously was holding down the top left guard spot but has moved to backup center behind Brown.
