Boston Police identify man who was shot before car crash in Roxbury
The man Boston police believe was shot in his car before the vehicle crashed in Roxbury has been identified.
Police officers responded to the 100-block of Ruthven Street in Roxbury at around 10 p.m. Thursday for a report of a person shot. There they found a man suffering from a gunshot wound who appeared to have been shot inside a vehicle that crashed at the scene.
That man was identified Saturday as Theo Vernice, 21, of Hyde Park. He was transported by Boston EMS to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead. An autopsy confirmed Vernice died of a gunshot wound.
Police say they are actively investigating the crime and ask that anyone with any information contact homicide detectives at (617) 343-4470. Those who wish to submit information anonymously may do so through the CrimeStoppers program by calling 1-800-494-TIPS (8477), by texting the word “TIP” to CRIME (27463) or at the program’s website at Police.Boston.gov/CrimeStoppers/.
