Red Sox lineups: Sean Newcomb to make Fenway debut with hometown club
Sean Newcomb grew up in Middleborough dreaming of one day taking the mound at Fenway Park in a Red Sox uniform.
Today that dream will come true.
The local standout will take the mound for the first game of Sunday’s split doubleheader against the St. Louis Cardinals, which is scheduled to begin at 1:35 p.m. Newcomb has pitched at Fenway Park before with other teams, but Sunday will mark his first outing at his childhood ballpark donning Red Sox colors.
The rest of Boston’s lineup remains unchanged from what manager Alex Cora had penciled in for Saturday afternoon. Kristian Campbell will make his first career start in center field, Rob Refsnyder will start in right field, David Hamilton will start at second base and Connor Wong will start behind the plate at catcher.
