Red Sox lineups: Hunter Dobbins to make first MLB start
Fresh off being called up from Triple-A, right-hander Hunter Dobbins is set to make his big league debut.
The Red Sox pitching prospect will get the start for Sunday night’s series finale against the St. Louis Cardinals. Boston enters the night riding a four-game winning streak and with a win would sweep both the doubleheader and the weekend series.
Originally an eighth-round pick in the 2021 MLB Draft, Dobbins currently ranks as Boston’s No. 11 prospect according to Baseball America and was added to the 40-man roster over the winter ahead of last December’s Rule 5 Draft. Dobbins started the season at Triple-A but was called up Sunday as the 27th man for the doubleheader.
In addition to Dobbins, Wilyer Abreu will get the start in right field after coming off the bench in Sunday’s afternoon game, and Romy Gonzalez will start in place of Triston Casas at first base.
