‘All hell’ at congressional panel Boston Mayor Wu is set to go before next week

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu is going before a congressional committee at war within its ranks.

House Oversight Committee Chairman Rep. James Comer (R-Ky.), set to grill Wu on Boston’s illegal immigration law, is threatening to have Democratic committee member Rep. Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) removed for calling President Donald Trump a “grifter.”

Frost refused to back down Tuesday after saying in an open meeting: “People like the grifter in chief, Trump, and President Musk are openly using their public offices to enrich themselves to the tune of billions of dollars.”

Comer and other Republicans on the committee objected with the chair saying: “Would you like to revise your remark, with respect to improperly identifying the president of the United States?” Video of the confrontation has gone viral, with Forbes posting “all hell” was breaking loose.

Frost partially backed down adding, “I can say that Trump is grifting. What I will withdraw is calling him grifter in chief. That is what I will withdraw.”

Comer cut him off and threatened to have him removed from the chamber if he continued.

This is the same panel Wu and mayors from Denver, New York and Chicago will be before Wednesday to explain sanctuary city policies.

Boston is a sanctuary city under the Trust Act, a 2014 local law that prohibits city police and other departments from cooperating with ICE and federal agencies on civil immigration detainers.
