Uber driver in Boston accused of raping drunk passenger in vehicle

An Uber driver is accused of raping a drunk passenger in the back of his vehicle, according to officials.

Hermann Ngoufack Jiokeng, 39, was arraigned on one count of rape in South Boston court on Monday.

The Uber driver who lives in Brighton allegedly raped an intoxicated woman who had been out at a restaurant/bar in Southie on Saturday night.

“The original incident occurred at about 11:45 PM, on Saturday, February 22, 2025, when the victim took a ride share from a location in South Boston to her residence,” Boston Police wrote. “During the ride, the suspect, who was the ride share driver, sexually assaulted the victim.”

Jiokeng was held without bail, pending a dangerousness hearing this Friday. Dangerousness hearings happen when prosecutors seek pretrial detention or release on conditions for a felony offense that involves “the use, attempted use or threatened use of physical force” against someone.

A protective order has been filed by Suffolk DA prosecutors, leading to limited details about the incident at this time.

A Boston Police spokesperson said the department cannot release this incident’s report because it’s a sexual assault report, and it’s statutorily exempt from the public records law.

The Boston Police Department over the years has investigated many ride-share drivers who were accused of raping passengers.
