
First Red Sox-Yankees spring training game rained out
FORT MYERS, Fla. – Baseball’s oldest rivalry will have to wait.
After initially pushing the game from 1:05 to 4:05 p.m., Monday’s Red Sox-Yankees game at JetBlue Park has been canceled altogether due to heavy rain.
Tanner Houck’s Grapefruit League debut won’t be pushed back to Tuesday, when the Red Sox hit the road to take on the Braves in North Port, Fla. He had a throwing session in the complex batting cages, instead.
Adam Ottavino and Garrett Whitlock were able to get their work in before the rain set in. Ottavino threw to live hitters, and Whitlock had an up-and-down.
Brian Van Belle is currently scheduled to start Tuesday’s game for Boston.
