Red Sox lineup: Roman Anthony makes first start of spring training

PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. – After a 5-2 win in the annual exhibition game against the Northeastern Huskies on Friday, the Red Sox are kicking off their official spring training schedule with a trip to the Tampa Bay Rays’ Charlotte Sports Park.

Top prospect Roman Anthony will make his preseason debut in left-field and batting second in the order. He was originally slated to lead off Friday’s game, but was scratched due to soreness in his right elbow from a hit-by-pitch.

Fellow ‘Big 3’ prospect Marcelo Mayer, who started at shortstop on Friday, is Saturday’s designated hitter.

The Red Sox will face a Rays lineup full of ‘24 regulars. Danny Jansen, a Boston addition at last summer’s trade deadline, will also be behind the dish for the Rays.
