HOPKINS

Tuesday, April 11

* The center will host a soup and sandwich supper beginning at 5 p.m. The menu will include a choice of two soups and a sandwich provided by the Hopkins Care Center staff. The cost is $3. Music, games and door prizes will be offered. Call to register by Thursday, April 7.

Mondays beginning April 17

* The center will host “Bridge Lessons with Mae” each Monday from April 17-May 8. The beginning session is offered from 9-10 a.m., and the refresher course is offered from 10-11 a.m. The cost is $22 for four lessons.

Ongoing

* Free blood pressure checks are offered on the first and third Tuesdays of every month at the activity center. Appointments aren’t needed.

* Each Monday, the center offers a coffee clutch from 9-11 a.m. Those who attend may enjoy a free cup of coffee and treats sponsored by Hopkins Care Center.

MINNETONKA

Friday, March 31

* The center will host a presentation by the “World’s Fastest Omelet Maker” Howard Halmer. Halmer contends that even a slowpoke can turn out a perfect omelet in 40-60 seconds by following his techniques. He has appeared on “Oprah” “Good Morning America” and “Cooking Live.” He showcases the versatility of eggs in demonstrations for a wide array of egg dishes. The event begins at 10:30 a.m.

Wednesday, April 5

* The center will host a buffet lunch at noon. The menu includes chicken alfredo, seafood salad, mini quiches, pineapple salad, potato salad, veggie tray, cheese and crackers and assorted desserts. The payment is required by noon two days in advance. The cost is $5.

Wednesday, April 26

* Beginning at 6 p.m., the center will host a mystery dinner theater performance. This “mystery event” is an audience participation activity designed to entertain and intrigue. A world-famous astrologer, Madam Zodiak, attempts to educate the audience about astrology, but never gets a word in. During the play, a murder takes place and there are obvious suspects. The cast is from the Plymouth Creek Center. The cost is $17, which includes a buffet dinner provided by Classic Catering. Payment is due to the Minnetonka Senior Center by April 19.

* Senior Community Services offers the Household and Outside Maintenance for Elderly (H.O.M.E.) program for Minnetonka residents ages 60 and over. Volunteer groups and paid workers are available to help with yard clean up, lawn mowing, window washing, painting, small repair jobs and house cleaning. Call Valerie on Monday or Wednesday afternoons from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at 952-939-8363.

* An “Over 50 and Fit” class on muscle strengthening, flexibility, endurance and increasing lung capacity will be offered from 9-10 a.m. Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

* Health insurance appointments can be made for Monday afternoons between 1 and 3 p.m. by calling the Minnetonka Senior Center. There is no cost to meet with an advisor.

SOUTHSHORE

Thursdays

* From 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thursdays, the center will offer “Cary’s Cafe,” featuring salad, homemade soup or sandwich, dessert and coffee. The cost is $5. Call the center to make reservations.

Friday, March 31

* The center will offer a trip to Turtle Lake Casino. The bus leaves the center at 7:45 a.m. The cost is $5 and reservations are required.

Ongoing

* Meals on Wheels – South Shore delivers hot, nutritionally-balanced meals to senior citizens and the disabled Monday through Friday in Excelsior, Deephaven, Shorewood, Tonka Bay and Minnetonka. Call 952-474-5227 for more information.

TAMARACK

The center needs volunteers to call bingo and is in need of receptionists. If you have one Friday per month free from 12:30-1:30 p.m., you could help call bingo.

If you enjoy greeting people and answering phones, you could help from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays or Fridays as a receptionist. Call the Tamarack Center at 952-476-2554 to volunteer.

* RidgePointe will host an AARP 55 Alive Driver Refresher Course from 1-4 p.m. To register call 952-540-6218.
