Prairie Lutheran returns from mission

“Prairie Lutheran Church sent 24 people to spend their spring break (March 27-April 4) helping children and teachers in the Dominican Republic. It was an inter-generational trip of families ranging from 8-74 years in age. Prairie Lutheran has a partnership with the Doulos Discovery School in Jarabacoa, a Caribbean mountain town,” according to a news release.

“Projects they completed were: refurbished and painted the playground, helped with landscaping, worked at the Community Catholic School on a botanical garden, made eight Renaissance costumes for a class project, taught a class of high school students about careers and college planning, and led after school camps of Bravo music (with flute, violin, trombone, recorders and games/crafts),” the release said. They also presented a check for $30,000 to the directors of the school. These funds were donated from members of Prairie Lutheran Church to help build up Doulos Discovery School. These funds will help underwrite the construction of a new shelter area for activities and sporting events.

The public is invited to attend a special Doulos Celebration Presentation on Sunday, April 19, at all three worship services 8:15 a.m., 9:30 a.m., or 10:45 a.m. in the sanctuary. The event will take place at Prairie Lutheran Church, 11000 Blossom Road, Eden Prairie.
