Two Hopkins seniors receive National Merit scholarships
Two Hopkins High School seniors-Michael Haynes and Caroline Hedberg-have received $2,500 National Merit Scholarships.

Business Education Department featured in statewide journal
The Minnesota Department of Education has featured Hopkins’ Business Education Department in its May Business Education Today for business educators across the state.
Nurturing Interests, Passions, & Talents
Art exhibit features former teacher’s work
Paintings and ceramics by nationally renowned artist and former Hopkins teacher, Mel Jacobson, will be on display at the Hopkins Center for the Arts, 1111 Mainstreet, Hopkins, from May 14 to June 21.
Hot Club 2009, Saturday, May 16
Hot Club 2009, featuring Hopkins High School’s jazz bands under the direction of William Bell, is scheduled for 7 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
Community Connections & Opportunities
80 year old to receive his high school diploma
A special graduate-80-year-old Wayne Sueker of Golden Valley-will receive his high school diploma during Hopkins High School’s graduation ceremony, Thursday, June 4.
Summer marketing internship opportunity available
Hopkins Community Coalition: One Voice and an instructor at Hopkins High School are teaming to provide a summer internship opportunity to students entering 10th grade through 12th grade who are interested in marketing.
Keep the Drive Club chosen as finalist in Act Out Loud competition: Support the team and vote, starting May 11
Students from Hopkins High School who are involved in the Keep the Drive Club are currently participating in the Act Out Loud competition with voting opening, Monday, May 11.
Registration for Hopkins Champions Fund Golf & Tennis Tournament being accepted now
Registration is open for the annual Champions Fund Golf & Tennis Tournament, scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 17.

Spirit Shop clearance sale week, May 26-29
The Spirit Shop is having a clearance sale, Tuesday, May 26, through Friday, May 29. Selected items will be 20 percent to 60 percent off. Sale hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, May 26, Wednesday, May 27, and Thursday, May 28, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, May 29. Only personal checks or cash accepted. The Spirit Shop is located at Hopkins High School, 2400 Lindbergh Drive, Minnetonka. The phone number is 952.988.4551.
The Winter’s Tale takes the stage, May 7-10
Coming to the stage, May 7-10, is William Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale-a landmark studio production by Hopkins High School’s Royal Productions theater troupe. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7, Friday, May 8, and Saturday, May 9, and 1:30 p.m. Sunday, May 10 (please note the time change). Reserved seats are available at http://hhstheater.org/. Tickets are $8 for adults, and $6 for students and seniors. Performances will be in the newly remodeled Little Theater at Hopkins High School, 2400 Lindbergh Drive, Minnetonka.
One-Act Festival, May 21-22
Hopkins North Junior High (HNJH) students will present their One-Act Festival, May 21-22. The festival acts, ranging from drama to comedy, will be written, directed, and acted by HNJH students. Performances are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. Thursday, May 21, and 3:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Friday, May 22, in Room 602 at Hopkins North Junior High, 10700 Cedar Lake Road, Minnetonka. The cost is pay what you can.
