The Wayzata Trojans improved to 2-0 on the season with a 28-0 victory over the Minnetonka Skippers in what was considered a non-conference game. Trojans senior A.J. Tarpley scored on a two-yard reception from quarterback Dan Wexler in the second quarter and on a 73-yard interception return in the fourth quarter. The Trojans’ defense has yet to give up a touchdown thus far after two games. Wayzata will look to remain undefeated this week when it travels to Robbinsdale Armstrong for a 7 p.m. kick-off on Thursday, Sept. 17. Minnetonka (1-1) will look to rebound when it hosts Hopkins on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The Hopkins Royals jumped out to a 22-7 halftime lead over the Edina Hornets and went on to earn a 36-13 victory to improve to 2-0 on the season. Junior quarterback Bill Gregg threw two touchdown passes and ran for a third. Senior Gavin Grady returned an interception 35 yards for a touchdown and junior Dami Mafe scored on an 83-yard touchdown run. Junior wide receivers Ben Christopher and Adam Bevis were on the receiving end of Gregg’s two touchdown passes. The Royals will face a stern test this week when they travel to Minnetonka.

The Blake Bears fell to 0-2 on the season after a 39-20 loss to the St. Bernard’s Bulldogs. Senior quarterback Tyler Storlie threw for one touchdown and ran for two more in the losing cause. Sophomore receiver Andre Hinds made four receptions for 98 yards and a touchdown. Senior Michael Carter led the rushing attack with 14 carries for 64 yards. The Bears will look to break into the win column this week when they host St. Croix Lutheran at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 17.

The Providence Academy/Heritage Lions improved to 2-0 on the season after a 17-0 victory over New Life Academy. The Lions got a 70-yard touchdown run from sophomore Colin Kraker and two-yard touchdown run from freshman Marshall Klitzke. The Lions have yet to give up a single point so far this season as they defeated Montgomery-Lonsdale 13-0 in week one. The Lions will look to remain undefeated this week when they play St. Agnes at 7 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18.
