Hair stylist Rebecca Bruns has spent her last year creating new ‘dos for area residents.

Bruns, of Burnsville, joined Salon Pacific in Prior Lake last year after graduating from the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis.

Bruns said she’s wanted to become a stylist for as long as she can recall.

“I’ve always just wanted to. I love making people feel pretty,” Bruns said.

She said the hardest part of reaching her goal was the grueling hours while training.

“The time commitment was 9 to 5 every day and 8 to 5 Saturdays. It was rough. I had no life,” she said.

Bruns said her time practicing styles in Minneapolis has paid off. She particularly adds her own twist when coloring hair, she said.

“You can do your own unique design, and it just puts your own personal creativity into your design,” she said.

When she’s not styling hair, she said she does “the regular stuff.”

“I like to go out with friends – just the regular [age] 21 thing,” she said.

When at home, Bruns spends time with her kitten, Rocky.

“I also swim every once in a while,” she said.

What is your favorite movie?

“The Notebook.”

What’s your favorite band or song?

I love every kind of music possible.

What’s on your iPod?

New Revolution.

What’s your favorite food or restaurant?

My favorite food would be Thai food, and The King and I would be my favorite restaurant.

What’s your dream vacation?

Hawaii.

What would you do as president for the day?

I’d just stop the war.

What’s on your bookshelf?

 “The Purpose-Driven Life” [by Rick Warren]. It’s one I’m reading now.
