Tournament of Duty fundraiser June 29
The Tournament of Duty, a golf scramble and volleyball challenge to raise funds for Wounded Warrior Project, will be held Saturday, June 29, at Island Pine Golf Club in Atwater. Wounded Warrior Project is a non-profit organization that empowers wounded veterans through programs and services.
Event organizer Paul White, financial consultant for Thrivent Financial for Lutherans in Litchfield, is encouraging participants and spectators to contact his office as soon as possible to register for the event. If unable to attend, community members can sponsor a wounded warrior by paying for their participation fee, or send donations.
The golf tournament will begin at 11 a.m. Eighteen holes of golf is $250 for a four-member team. A volleyball tournament will also begin at noon. Cost is $120 for a six-member team. The cost includes games and a meal served from 5 to 7 p.m.
Members from the U.S. Paralympic women’s volleyball team – silver medal winners at the 2012 London Paralympic Games – will also make an appearance at the event. Every half-hour during the volleyball tournament, names will be drawn for participants to play on a team with paralympic members.
More information and registration forms are available at www.tournamentofduty.com, or at www.facebooklcom/TournamentofDuty. All proceeds will benefit Wounded Warrior Project.
