FIRE RESCUE DAYS

Join Elko New Market for Fire Rescue Days June 27 through 30. Saturday, June 29, begins with the Fire Rescue Days 5K Run at 7:30 a.m. (check-in at the Elko New Market Police Department), beer gardens and Karaoke Dave at 11 a.m. and the community parade from City Hall to Wagner Park at 1 p.m. followed by food, fun and games at Wagner Park, NASCAR racing at Elko Speedway (gates open at 5 p.m., racing at 6 p.m.) and, at 8:30 p.m., the Fire Relief Dance. On Sunday, June 30, enjoy pancakes in the park from 8 a.m. to noon and a community church service in Wagner Park at 10 a.m.

Cost: $25 in advance, $30 at the door for Lions Steak Dinner; $15 adults and $10 kids for the Live Pro Wrestling

#PLWORTHIT CORK SUDS & GRUB TASTING EVENT

The #PLWorthIt campaign is hosting the Cork Suds & Grub tasting event for 21+ from 7 to 10 p.m. at the South Lake Village Mall in Prior Lake to help support local businesses during the interchange improvement projects in Downtown and South Lake Village area. #PLWorthIt is an initiative of the Prior Lake Economic Development Authority to host events and activities and encourage communication in order to support local businesses affected by the construction. Guests will get to sample food, wine and beer from area restaurants as well as enjoy entertainment from magician David Farr and local band Volm, which performs 1970s and ’80s classic rock. There will be drawings for prizes from local businesses throughout the evening. A portion of ticket sale proceeds will be donated to Hugs From Hunter Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to providing comfort to children in crisis.

NAMI FAMILY TO FAMILY CLASS

NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) is offering a 10-week class for family members and friends of individuals with serious mental illnesses, taught by trained family members. SCOTT COUNTY WORK SITE WELLNESS COLLABORATIVE

Open to any organization in Scott County interested in learning more about work site wellness initiatives. This group consisting of work sites who meet quarterly to network and learn about various wellness topics. Facilitated by Scott County Public Health staff through the Statewide Health Improvement Partnership. Free consultation along with tools and templates will be provided. A work site wellness program can lead to increased productivity, decreased absenteeism, improved recruitment and retention and builds employee morale. Grants of $1,000 will be available for participation.
