Shorewood to offer free shredding event on Oct. 5
SHOREWOOD – It’s fall cleaning day for Shorewood residents.
Those looking to clean out personal confidential documents can bring them to the Shorewood City Hall parking lot, 5755 Country Club Road, from 9 a.m. to noon on Oct. 5 for a free shredding event, a news release from the city of Shorewood says.
Personal papers should be brought in paper bags or boxes. Paper clips and staples can remain on the paper, but three-ring binders and other plastics are not allowed, the release says.
Not all items need to be shredded, according to the release. The shredded materials will be recycled, but shredded paper is not preferred over whole sheets of paper. Unless a document contains information such as account numbers, social security numbers, personal medical information or other confidential information, it can be recycled, the release says.
