Police Report

The Savage Police Department responded to 201 incidents and issued 26 citations between April 25 and May 1 Some of those included:

CRASH

April 27: A woman from Savage accidentally crashed her vehicle into a townhome in the 4200 block of 141st Street. The woman told police that she was turning westbound onto 141st Street from the townhome complex’s west entrance when a vehicle going east on 141st almost hit her head on, causing the woman to take evasive action, which resulted in her leaving the roadway and hitting the building. There was minor damage to the vehicle and the building, but no one was injured.

DWI

May 1: Police arrested a 36-year-old Lakeville man for second-degree DWI, possession of a small amount of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after pulling him over for lane violations on 123rd Street near Lynn Avenue at 12:13 a.m. His blood alcohol content (BAC) was registered at .23.

May 1: Police arrested a 36-year-old Burnsville man for fourth-degree DWI and driving after revocation after pulling him over for speeding on Highway 13 West near Louisiana Avenue at 12:52 a.m. His BAC was registered at .10.

May 1: Police arrested a 28-year-old man from Savage for third-degree DWI and driving after suspension after pulling him over for speeding on Highway 13 near Ottawa Avenue at 1:17 a.m. His BAC was registered at .16.

FLEEING POLICE

April 26: An officer conducted a traffic stop on 132nd Street near Vernon Avenue for suspicious driving conduct at 1 a.m., but when the officer approached the vehicle, the driver drove off at a high rate of speed. A short chase ensued, but police could not locate the suspect.

FRAUD

April 25: The owner of a business in Savage reported that someone used forged checks using his business account to make approximately $225 charges in Coon Rapids. There has been an arrest in the case.

April 27: An Eagan woman reported that someone used her debit card information to make a fraudulent $12.18 purchase at a store in the 7400 block of Egan Drive. The debit card was still in the woman’s possession. There are no suspects.

April 29: A man from Savage reported that someone accessed his personal information via his employer’s website and used that information to file a fraudulent tax return in his name. Police provided the man with an identity theft packet and advised him to contact the IRS.

ILLEGAL DUMPING

April 25: A resident of the 13600 block of Glendale Trail reported that someone left two couches in their yard. There are no suspects.

NARCOTICS

April 28: Police responded to a request from the Watonwan County Sheriff’s Office regarding a warrant for a man staying at Quality Inn, 4601 Highway 13 W. When police arrested the man, who was wanted on a probation violation for first-degree burglary, they found him to be in possession of hypodermic needles and a substance believed to be heroin. In addition to the warrant, police arrested the man, a 24 year old with no permanent address, for fifth-degree drug possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

April 30: Police cited a 20-year-old woman from Buffalo, Minn. for possession of drug paraphernalia after pulling her over on Highway 13 South near Connelly Parkway for failing to display vehicle registration.

MISCHIEF

April 29: Police responded to a report of several juveniles throwing glass, rocks and sticks into the road in the 4000 block of 141st Street. Police located one of the juveniles who was involved and the boy agreed to clean up the mess. There was no damage to property.

April 29: Police responded to a report of juveniles toilet-papering a property in the 9400 block of Woodridge Way. The juveniles were not located.

April 30: A man from the 8400 block of Carriage Hill Road reported that his house had been egged. There was no permanent damage and there are no suspects.

PROPERTY DAMAGE

April 29: The property manager of an apartment building in the 3900 block of 126th Street reported that someone damaged the back glass door of a unit. The cost to repair or replace the door is estimated at $900. There are no suspects.

May 1: A Bloomington woman reported that her vehicle had been scratched in several places, and that two of its tires appeared to have been slashed, while it was parked at Quality Inn. The cost to repair the damages is estimated at $400.

STOLEN VEHICLE

April 26: Savage police are investigating a possible stolen vehicle case that occurred in 2009. A family that was living in Savage abruptly moved overseas that year, leaving behind a couple vehicles. A suspect who learned that the family was not coming back allegedly stole one of the vehicles and stored it at a farm in Wisconsin. The suspect then allegedly brought it back to Minnesota and placed a mechanic’s lien on it. When the vehicle went to a sheriff’s auction, the suspect purchased it for a fraction of what it was worth, then later sold it on Craigslist for a substantial profit. The case is under investigation.

THEFT

April 25: A student at Prior Lake High School, 7575 150th St., reported that a baseball glove worth $500 was stolen. There are no suspects.

April 29: A student at Prior Lake High School reported that someone stole his mountain bike after he left it at the school. The loss is estimated at $500. There are no suspects.

April 30: A woman from the 4400 block of 131st Street reported that someone stole a 10-speed mountain bike from her residence. The total loss is estimated at $100. There are no suspects.

May 1: A man from the 4100 block of 131st Street reported that a bicycle was stolen from his open garage. The total loss is estimated at $100. There are no suspects.

UNDERAGE DRINKING

April 30: A 17-year-old Burnsville boy was cited for underage possession of alcohol after the vehicle he was in was pulled over on Highway 13 West near Louisiana Avenue for speeding. The driver was warned for speeding and underage possession of tobacco.

UNDERAGE NICOTINE

April 28: Police cited a 15-year-old boy for underage possession of nicotine after he was caught with an e-cigarette at Prior Lake High School.
