Police Report

MEDINA

Citation/MJ:

April 2, 7:32 p.m., Medina Street and Loretto Street, Loretto: A 17-year-old man from Mound was cited for possession of alcohol, possession of small amount of marijuana and possession of tobacco. A 14-year-old woman from Rockford was cited for possession of tobacco.

Mail theft:

April 3, 6:02 p.m., 700 block of Navajo Road, Medina: Police received information from the Elk River Police Department that an individual was arrested for attempting to pass a check in Elk River. The check was from a Medina resident. Police responded to the residence and it was determined the check had been stolen from the mailbox.

Animal complaint:

April 4, 12:07 a.m., 600 block of Clydesdale Trail, Medina: “A good Samaritan” brought a dog to the police department since it was wandering on the road in Loretto. The dog was released to the owner’s brother.

Theft from auto:

April 7, 9:48 a.m., 3200 block of Butternut Drive, Medina: A handgun, pistol box and Leatherman multi-tool were stolen from an unlocked vehicle.

WEST HENNEPIN PUBLIC SAFETY

Verbal domestic:

April 3, 6000 block of Main Street, Independence: Verbal domestic between parents on who was supposed to pick up their child at daycare. Police mediated to find a reasonable solution and encouraged them to continue working together and to not make a mountain out of a mole.

Vehicle in ditch:

April 3, County Road 19 and Perkinsville Road, Independence: Police found due to road conditions, a vehicle was going too fast at the corner of Perkinsville Road. The driver straightened out at the curve, cutting down the stop sign and street signs and ended in the ditch. The driver was not around. Police contacted the vehicle-registered owner who admitted to driving and had called a towing company. Her driver’s license was suspended and she was issued a citation for driving after suspension.

Traffic complaint:

April 4, 5000 block of Highway 12, Maple Plain: A traffic complaint of a vehicle that pulled into a business on Highway 12. Police made contact with a woman who said the van was hers but she was not driving, possibly because her husband had. The woman had an ID from Florida that came back not on file. Police found she had tried to change her name and had a revoked driver’s license. Her husband admitted to driving the van and police found he had a suspended license. Both individuals were advised not to drive seeing as they did not have valid licenses.

DWI:

April 4, County Road 19 and County Road 6, Independence: A vehicle was stopped after it was observed crossing over the fog line on County Road 19. The driver, Suzanne Marie Caola, 46, of Wayzata, was arrested for fourth-degree DWI with a BAC of .10.

Theft from auto:

April 5, 5 a.m., 4800 block of Deer Ridge Trail, Independence: A resident reported at 4 a.m. that her husband saw dome lights on in their truck. He went outside and found the dome lights off and that a plastic tub of tie downs and a ball hitch were missing. Estimated loss of $300 and $15 cash missing. No leads at this time.

Theft from auto:

April 5, 5:57 a.m., 4900 block of Deer Ridge Trail, Independence: A resident reported his truck was broken into. The vehicle was left unlocked with no damage done. Items missing included cash, sunglasses, garage door opener, and a 2-inch ball and receiver hitch. No foot impressions were found through the yard or around the truck. Estimated loss of $250; no leads at this time.

Traffic/warrant:

April 5, Budd Avenue and Oak Street, Maple Plain: A vehicle was stopped for failure to signal a turn. Police found the 51-year-old passenger from Delano had a warrant out of Dakota County for a gross misdemeanor third-degree DWI refusal, for body only. She was transported to Hennepin County Jail and booked in on her warrant.

Domestic assault:

April 8, 900 block of County Road 19, Independence: Police responded to a victim who was pushed down and her fingers slammed in a car door, causing pain. The 34-year-old man was arrested and transported to Hennepin County Jail, pending charges for felony-domestic assault.

Medical:

April 8, 5000 block of Highway 12, Maple Plain: A man wanted to go to the VA hospital. He drank a pint of Vodka straight, was vomiting and going through alcohol withdrawals. He was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

Property crash:

April 8, Highway 12 and Maple Avenue, Maple Plain: The driver said he was westbound when he lost control due to it being slippery. Police found the roads were wet, but not slippery and the tires were in good condition. The driver admitted to texting and using snapchat while driving. The vehicle was driven through a snowbank, two signs and ended up in another snowbank. The driver was issued a citation for texting and driving and fail to drive with due care.

Suspicious act:

April 8, 9:21 p.m., 3000 block of Lake Sarah Road, Independence: Police followed fresh car tracks to an abandoned property. Police found a vehicle in the yard. The man in the car was sitting naked in the passenger seat and said he was there to meet with his girlfriend to have sex. Police told him he needed to have sex off-property so his landlord wouldn’t get mad. The man was issued a citation for no trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia and a small amount of marijuana.

PLYMOUTH

Assault:

April 5, 10:34 a.m., 16800 block of County Road 24, Plymouth: The victim and suspect were involved in an altercation and the suspect was arrested for assault.

April 11, 9:14 a.m., 13200 block of 10th Ave., Plymouth: Officers responded to a report of a physical altercation and arrested the suspect for assault.

Controlled substance:

April 10, 6:20 p.m., 2600 block of Annapolis Lane, Plymouth: Officer investigating the recovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

April 10, 2:45 a.m., Highway 169 and I-394, Plymouth: A traffic stop resulted in the discovery of drug paraphernalia. The driver was cited for violation.

April 10, 6:20 p.m., 2600 block of Annapolis Lane, Plymouth: Officer investigating the recovery of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

April 10, 8:43 p.m., Plymouth Boulevard and 34th Avenue N., Plymouth: A traffic stop resulted in the driver, Ray Thomas Rasmussen, 25, of Minnetonka, being cited for possession of marijuana.

April 10, 11:20 p.m., Highway 55 and South Shore Drive, Plymouth: Officer conducted a traffic stop and found marijuana. The driver, Nicholas Colin Styles, 42, of St. Paul, was cited for violations.

April 5, 10:50 p.m., Hemlock Lane N. and I-694, Maple Grove: Traffic stop led to the recovery of controlled substances. Formal complaint charges are pending.

Domestic assault:

April 9, 6:40 p.m., 5400 block of Niagara Lane, Plymouth: Report of a physical altercation with suspect fleeing the scene. The suspect was later located and arrested for assault.

DWI:

April 6, 11:56 p.m., Xenium Lane and Highway 55, Plymouth: Traffic stop resulted in the driver, Katie Beth Vavrichek, 36, of St. Michael, being arrested for DWI with a BAC of .10.

April 8, Highway 55 and I-494, Plymouth: A traffic stop for an equipment violation resulted in the driver, Kasi Elizabeth Vanderpol, 41, of Hutchinson, being arrested for DWI with results pending.

Liquor:

April 8, 3:48 a.m., Bass Lake Road and Nathan Lane, Plymouth: A traffic stop resulted in a juvenile man and juvenile woman being cited for underage consumption.

MV Theft:

April 9, 5:02 a.m., 12000 block of 3rd Ave. and 500 block of Jonquil Lane, Plymouth: While on a suspicious vehicle call, officers discovered victim’s vehicle had been stolen from his driveway.

Theft:

April 5, 10:57 p.m., 3100 block of Campus Drive, Plymouth: The victim reported her laptop valued at $1,200 was stolen while she was at the hotel.

April 9, 3:51 p.m., 4100 block of Vinewood Lane, Plymouth: Suspect left the store with $414.95 worth of merchandise and was cited for theft.

April 10, 2:41 p.m., 3100 block of Campus Drive, Plymouth: the victim reported his computer and other items valued at $2,289 were missing from his hotel room.

Weapons offense:

April 8, 1:49 p.m., 9500 block of 18th Ave., Plymouth: The victim came home and discovered a bullet hole in the wall of his residence. The case is under investigation.

WAYZATA

Theft:

April 9, 12:15 p.m., 100 block of Gleason Lake Road, Wayzata: Report of a theft of two license plates. The license plates were entered into NCIC.

Damage to property:

April 8, 1:40 p.m., 600 block of Gardner St. E., Wayzata: Report of a house being egged. No loss reported.

April 5, 4:58 p.m., 300 block of Broadway Ave. N., Wayzata: Report of a house being egged, no loss reported.

DWI:

April 7, 1:03 a.m., I-393 E. and Carlson Parkway, Minnetonka: 30-year-old man from Maple Grove, Benjamin John Kippley, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC of .12.

April 5, 11:13 p.m., I-393 E. and I-494, Minnetonka: A 36-year-old man from Woodbury, Steven Lee Rime, was arrested for driving under the influence of alcohol with a BAC of .14.

Stolen property possession:

April 6, 12:40 p.m., 600 block of Rice St. E., Wayzata: A 36-year-old man from Woodbury was arrested for receiving stolen property. He was transported to jail.

SOUTH LAKE MINNETONKA

DWI:

April 5, 1:31 a.m., Highway 7 and Christmas Lake Road, Greenwood: 20-year-old Mia Skraba of Chanhassen was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after she was stopped for an equipment violation. A 16-year-old Chanhassen woman was also cited for underage consumption.

April 5, 9:55 p.m., Third Street and Morse Avenue, Excelsior: 64-year-old Harold Roberts was arrested for DWI after officers stopped him for an equipm ent violation. BAC of .14.

April 6, 12:06 a.m., 800 block of 3rd Ave., Excelsior: 48-year-old Edward Dowling of Excelsior was arrested for DWI after officers stopped him for an equipment violation.

April 6, 11:34 p.m., Highway 7 and Christmas Lake Road, Excelsior: 49-year-old Michael Schall of Mound was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for a traffic and equipment violation. BAC of .09.

April 7, 1:29 a.m., Oak Street and Beehrle Avenue, Excelsior: 46-year-old Anthony Novachis of Tonka Bay was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for an equipment violation and speeding. BAC of .11.

April 7, 10:44 p.m., Morse Avenue and Third Street, Excelsior: 57-year-old Janet Cariveau of Chaska was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after she was stopped for a tr affic violation. BAC of .09.

April 8, 12:39 a.m., Highway 7 and Old Market Road, Shorewood: 49-year-old Camer on Condon of Minneapolis was arrested for fourth-degree DWI after he was stopped for equipment violations. Condon refused to submit a breath test.
