Jaguars softball falls to Le Sueur
Head coach Bryan Martin’s return to coaching did not go as planned.
The Jordan softball team opened the season last Friday against Le Sueur-Henderson at the University of Minnesota Jane Cowles Stadium but things did not go very well.
Le Sueur’s Kelsey Berndt held the Jaguars to just one hit as the Giants defeated Jordan 10-0 in five innings.
That one hit for Jordan came off the bat of Selena Dalton to start the game.
Two more walks and Jordan had the bases loaded in the first inning but could not get the big two-out hit to score.
Berndt only allowed two more base runners (on walks) the rest of the game as she struck out six Jordan batters.
Things went south for the Jaguars in the second and third innings when Le Sueur scored nine runs. In the second inning, Le Sueur sent nine batters to the plate and scored three times for a 3-0 lead.
Things got worst in the third inning when the Giants batted 10 and scored six times. Berndt delivered the big blow in that inning with a bases loaded double that scored three runs and pushed the score to 9-0.
Le Sueur scored a run in the fifth to push the score to 10-0 and end the game because of the 10-run mercy rule.
