Harold A. Malinski, 91, of Litchfield died Saturday, Jan. 21, 2017, at the St. Cloud Hospital. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Jan. 30, at the Church of St. Philip in Litchfield, with a 10 a.m. Rosary. Visitation will be from 4  to 7 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 29, at Johnson-Hagglund Funeral Home with a 7 p.m. prayer service. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery. Military honors will be provided by the Litchfield Military Honor Guard.

Harold Albert Malinski, son of Albert and Mary (O’Connell) Malinski, was born in LeCenter on May 17, 1925. He graduated from Cleveland High School in 1943 and entered the Army in 1945, serving in the Army Signal Corps. He was united in marriage to Laurency Beer on Feb. 20, 1950, in the Church of St. Henry in St. Henry. Harold worked on farms most of his life, helping neighbors while in high school, driving milk trucks and working for Sederstrom’s Farm Service for many years. During this time he also farmed, raising livestock and crops. Harold and his family lived in Morristown, Montgomery and Grove City before moving to Litchfield. He was a member of the Church of St. Philip, American Legion, V.F.W. and has been a member of the Knights of Columbus for 73 years. He was also a 4-H Leader with the Acton Buzzers for 10 years. Harold enjoyed reading, winter fishing, growing roses, bowling and having coffee with his buddies. He would often feed the birds and animals in his neighborhood and enjoyed keeping current with farm and news reports. He had a mild mannered, happy-go-lucky, quiet personality and often helped Rennie with her downtown store.

Harold is survived by his wife, Laurency “Rennie” Malinski of Litchfield; children, Michael (Cynthia) Malinski, Gregory Malinski and Daniel (Lauri Gustoff) Malinski; granddaughters, Christa Malinski, Jennifer (Mitch Wilson) Malinski, Angela Malinski, Bridget Malinski and Michelle (Mitch) Carrigan; great-grandchildren, Lainey Stradel, Cody and Kimber Carrigan; stepgreat-grandson, Owen Wilson; siblings, James Malinski, Maryann Mayer, Rita Deyo and Alyce Ilg; sister-in-law, Ruth Beer; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary; daughter, Anne Marie; great-grandson, Chase Carrigan; and brother, Joseph.
